THE FAITH OF NOAH

Text: Hebrews l1:7 --"By faith Noah, being warned if God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith."

From this text, it is clear--

I. That it is a father’s responsibility to prepare an ark to the saving of his house

II. That the reason why Noah prepared an ark was because he was warned of God

III. That the warning from God was of things not seen as yet

IV. That the warning from God of things not seen as yet moved him with fear

V. That the reason why Noah was so fearful was because he believed God

VI. That the fruit of his faith was his preparation of an ark

VII. That the ark was the salvation of his house

VIII. That the preparation of the ark, which was to become the salvation of his house, was his condemnation of the world

IX. That through his faith in condemning the world, Noah became an heir of righteousness

X. That this righteousness, which unlike the righteousness men acknowledge, is a righteousness God acknowledges

XI. That this Godly righteousness is a gift

XII. And lastly, that this godly righteousness, the gift of God, is the grace conveyed upon faith

His friends have begged him not to come at all to Worms, and Luther has been heard to say he would enter Worms "despite the gates of Hell and the powers of darkness", and that "though there are as many devils in it as there are tiles on the roofs of its houses."

THE PARENTAGE OF YOUR BIBLE

Part XIII

Text: "Seek ye out of the book of the Lord and read.... "--(Isaiah 34:16)

Chapter VI

The Word of God was finally tolerated in Europe. King James of England had recommended the version which bears his name. The United States had followed suit when Congress recommended the Word of God to the general public use. Now, these peoples could "Seek ...out the Book of the Lord and read." But are there not other people still without this Word which is to the people of God more valuable than "thousands of gold and silver?" And how might the Lord effect such a distribution of the Scriptures to other lands, and peoples, and tongues, and nations?

In some instances, God called men to preach the Word itself; but in all cases, the Bible was dispersed abroad. For instance, in the 1800’s, God impressed some school children in the United States as well as some in Hawaii to bring money to school. This money was in turn used to acquire two large ships. It was the mission of these ships to carry Bibles to the South Sea islanders. Appropriately enough, these ships were dubbed, "Morning Stars." Oh, a school system that would be so bent to righteousness instead of amorality, atheism, and unrighteousness. America, "how are the mighty fallen!"

In the next edition of THE ANGELUS, we will see what awesome responsibilities lie upon men and women who have the Word of God at their fingertips.
